Dear Parents / Carers,
I repeat what I have said previously about the need to be patient. Education today and the process of learning and teaching are nothing like they were a week ago. We, along with you, are continuing to come to terms with what continues to be a day by day proposition. The staff are continuing to learn how to deliver on line and students continue to learn how to learn this way.
I am conscious of the difficult circumstances many of you are now facing as a result of the growing list of COVID-19 restrictions. Please contact the Finance Department of the College as your first step before you make any decisions for financial reasons relating to your child's ongoing enrolment.
I am serious when I say we will do what we can to assist our families on a case by case basis at this time.
ENROLMENTS - 2021 and BEYOND
Enrolments for 2021 are currently being accepted – application forms can be downloaded from the College Web Site or by emailing: enrolments@trinitylismore.nsw.edu.au.
I would ask that you encourage anyone you are aware of who is looking to apply to enrol their child in 2021 to do so now. Again, I ask you tell anyone you know is thinking of sending their child to the College that we are open to discussing their financial position.
Take care and may God bless us all in this very difficult time for our country and the world.
Br John Hilet, fms
Dear Members of the Trinity Community,
The weekend is now on our doorstep. I hope this is a time for everyone - students, staff and parents/carers - to stop and just breathe. We all need some time to rejuvenate and process this very turbulent and challenging week.
Today I emailed surveys to all Year 7 - 12 students seeking their feedback on the past three days. This will inform our planning and ongoing delivery in this blended online learning model.
I am receiving many emails from parents/carers about the volume of work, the accessibility of the learning activities and concerns about their young person remaining balanced holistically. I acknowledge all of these concerns.
As I indicated to families in the email I sent on Monday 16 March: Given the complexity of the situation, and the many variables schools and families now face, I cannot guarantee everything will be perfect. What I can guarantee is that Trinity Catholic College will do everything possible to support students to continue their learning. This remains the case today.
We are trying our very best. We will continue to try our very best. The student, teacher, parent partnership has never been more essential than now, particularly as we traverse this new landscape together. I appeal to parents/carers for their patience and cooperation as we use a reasonable, student-centred and solutions-focused approach to the many challenges we face - not just as a school community, but as a human family.
From Monday 30 March 2020, English and Mathematics take home packs for Year 7-10 students, without internet and/or device access, can be collected from SJS Office (Leycester Street). These have been prepared and printed for collection. I thank those staff who prepared these packages.
I take this opportunity to thank our Trinity students, staff and parents/carers for their efforts this week. I particularly acknowledge the Office of Student Learning Team who have been working, like many others, in overdrive.
I wish you and yours peace and good health this weekend.
Mr Jesse Smith - Assistant Principal - Learning & Teaching
Dear members of the Trinity Community,
As we conclude the week I continue to pray for all. I can report that numbers on campus were the lowest yet. A growing number of families have decided to self-isolate and informed the College - through the Principal’s Office - of this decision. Again, we ask that a decision that is made is final and information goes through principal@trinitylismore.nsw.edu.au . Nonetheless, those students on site engaged again in a well supervised and safe, supportive environment.
To begin with some good news: this article came to us about one school that is sharing ‘virtual hugs’ with the community by writing letters to the elderly, the isolated and the vulnerable - you might like a read.
Reassuring our children at this time around fear of the unknown. This article from the Black Dog Institute provides some tips and guidance on how to talk to and reassure our young people.
Resource for improving research skills - this resource could be helpful for students or parents in honing research skills, particularly when “Googling” something whilst doing research.
The Pastoral Side - In lieu of a Pastoral Care lesson today teachers / tutors began making contact again with tutor groups and touching base. Tutors and Heads of House remain a vital ‘first point of contact’ in most situations and I would encourage you to make contact regarding pastoral matters. It is vital that in these times we remain connected in whatever way we can.
Thank you again for your support this week and please take care; look after yourselves and each other.
God bless,
Mr Travis Lyon - Acting Assistant Principal - Students & Staff
