A COVID POEM
When this is over,
may we never again
take for granted
A handshake with a stranger
Full shelves at the store
Conversations with neighbors
A crowded theatre
Friday night out
The taste of communion
A routine checkup
The school rush each morning
Coffee with a friend
The stadium roaring
Each deep breath
A boring Tuesday
Life itself.
When this ends,
may we find
that we have become
more like the people
we wanted to be
we were called to be
we hoped to be
and may we stay
that way--better
for each other
because of the worst.

RETURN TO FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING FROM WEEK 3
The staff are looking forward to welcoming our Year 7 and Year 12 students next Monday as they return to face to face teaching.
- All Year 7’s report to the St Joseph’s Site for the commencement of the day.
- All Year 12’s report to the St Mary’s Site for the commencement of the day.
The attached plan outlines the College’s plan to transition all year levels back to face to face teaching. I have included a summary of the key messages below.
Summary of the Key Messages:-
- The College’s intention is to return all students to face-to-face learning from Week 7: Tuesday 9 June 2020 (Monday is the Queen's Birthday public holiday).
- Year 7 and 12 commence face to face classes in Week 3.
- Year 11 commences one day per week in Week 3 and 4.
- Years 8 - 10 continue with blended learning in Weeks 3 and 4.
Parents/carers who choose to continue self-isolating their child/ren after face to face teaching for their child’s Year level has recommenced are to contact principal@trinitylismore.nsw.edu.au so that appropriate attendance codes can be applied to explain their absence, and teachers can be informed.
THE WELLBEING OF OUR COLLEGE COMMUNITY
It is important that we do all we can to ensure the wellbeing of our community. To this end I repeat my previous message that anyone exhibiting any sign of illness should not be attending school.
If a student falls ill or exhibits symptoms of being unwell while at school, the current procedures apply and a parent or guardian will be contacted to collect the student as quickly as possible. If the parent or guardian is not available to collect the student, contact will be made with the student’s emergency contact who will be asked to collect the child. Your support in this matter is appreciated.
Students should then not return to school until they are well and symptom free.
Before you consider visiting the College please consider the following questions:
- are you experiencing cold or flu like symptoms?
- have/do you had/have a temperature?
- have you been in contact with anyone that is confirmed to have COVID-19?
- have you returned from overseas in the past 14 days?
If you answer YES to any of these questions you are NOT to enter either of the College sites.
The great news is that there have been no new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern NSW Local Health District despite the recent increase in testing.

HELP AVAILABLE
We are conscious that some of our families are now facing difficult financial circumstances and a number have already been in contact with us. Please be assured that we will do what we can to support all our families at this time. Trinity Catholic College has a long tradition of assisting families in need and I am serious when I say we will do all we can to assist families seeking to enrol their child at the College.
Also, please encourage anyone you may know would like to send their child to the College but are now unsure of their ability to continue their child’s education at the College to contact us before they make any decisions. No child should ever miss out on a Catholic Education because of financial stress.
Brother John Hilet, fms
Dear Members of the Trinity Community,
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue responding to the COVID19 pandemic.
YEAR 7 AND YEAR 12 RETURN TO FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING
From Week 3 this will be the primary delivery method for these year groups. The College understands that some students may need to continue self-isolating. Parents/guardians are requested to email principal@trinitylismore.nsw.edu.au if this is the case. Students returning to face-to-face learning will follow the normal College timetable. Monday 11 May 2020 is a Day 6 on the timetable. Zooms and other provisions used as part of the Blended Learning model will cease for Year 7 and 12 students from 11 May 2020. Students who are self-isolating will still be able to access learning through Lighthouse.
BLENDED LEARNING TIMETABLE FOR WEEKS 3-4
The Blended Learning Timetable will continue to be used in Weeks 3-4 for Years 8, 9, 10 and 11. On single attendance days, students will follow the College timetable.
USE OF ZOOM IN TERM 2 - GUIDELINES AND INFOGRAPHICS
Please read this letter regarding the use of Zoom in Term 2. Should you have questions, or you do not wish for your child/ren to participate in any Zoom conferences, please contact principal@trinitylismore.nsw.edu.au so that relevant class teachers are made aware of your intention. ASSESSMENT YEAR 7-10
Formal assessment tasks, as per the published assessment calendars for students in Year 7-10, will not proceed in Term 2. Students are to undertake the learning experiences provided by their teachers in the Blended Learning Model and will be reported on against descriptors of achievement for each subject area. It is very important students in these years engage with the learning experiences set and show evidence of their learning.
ASSESSMENT YEAR 11 AND 12
Year 12: the revised Year 12 HSC Assessment Calendar and HSC Assessment Handbook have been published.
Year 11: the revised Year 11 Revised Assessment Calendar and Year 11 Assessment Handbook have now been published.

Take good care
Mr Jesse Smith - Assistant Principal - Learning & Teaching
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we begin Week 3 of Term 2 we would like to reassure you that we understand the importance of supporting the students and members of our school community to feel a sense of control, and to develop strategies for maintaining their own wellbeing. To that end our Student Wellbeing Page is updated weekly and students are sent a Student Self Care activity sheet, which is also available via tutor pages. Our tutors are working to use their tutor pages as a base for communications with their tutor groups and they have been offering opportunities for students to join tutor zooms and pastoral wellness lessons as per our blended timetable. Over the last two weeks we have focused on maintaining connections.
This week’s Pastoral Wellness Lesson will see students participate in an initiative of our Captain’s Council, Messages for the Elderly. Each house group has been allocated a local care facility and students are asked to send a message of support/ hope to the residents. Our House Captains will collate the responses with their Heads of House and share our messages. We hope this small gesture will help our students feel connected and offer a little hope amidst the fear and uncertainty for our vulnerable elderly.
In the next few weeks we will focus on online safety both while at school and in the blended learning environment. With students spending more time in front of screens we understand the need to encourage safe access and practice while online.
RETURNING TO SCHOOL
Canteens
Operating on both sites at recess and lunch on all days.
Water Bottles
Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, but no glass.
Uniform
Students on site are expected to wear proper College uniform. They are asked to bring a note, as per usual practice, if there is a reason that they are out of uniform. Please liaise with the tutor or Head of House if there are issues.
Hygiene and Self-care
The College has installed many hand sanitisation stations but we still encourage students to wash their hands thoroughly and regularly. This is still the most effective method of self-care and harm minimisation.
The eSafety Commissioner is holding a free Parent online safety Webinar which addresses concerns for parents monitoring online use at home: My House My Rules
With so much negative news about, we advise that you engage with the local health service site which has up to date information specific to Northern NSW Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) Local Information about COVID 19 .
We understand that some of our students are experiencing high levels of anxiety around their safety and that of their families. Emerging Minds has a vimeo that looks at Supporting children during the COVID19 Pandemic
